Although all of the above hoses are generally flexible, the Flx-Thane Series (Flx-Thane MD), polyurethane ducting, tend to fare best in applications where the hose is being continually flexed. Compared to polyurethane ducting, rubber hoses tend to deteriorate from flex fatigue at a quicker rate. However, in applications where the ducting is stationary, ducting made of rubber (such as our T-7 or HT) are quite efficient and a great cost effective choice. External wear-strips are available on some rubber ducting, which will reduce damage to the hose, even if abrasion is expected from the exterior of the wall (e.g. if it is being dragged around.) For applications where the media being transferred is fine and the possibility of build-up within the corrugations of the hose is great, smooth bore or smooth interior walled hoses (R-2 or R-3) are recommended. If hoses are expected to clog or static buildup within the duct is a concern, the Flx-Thane series offers a clear option, as well as a static dissipative version. If weathering due to sunlight or the ozone and/or a chemical resistant hose are a priority, then either the CW series (e.g. CWY) or the T series (T-7 or HT) are a great choice.
