Furnace Ducts
Why Choose a Flexible Furnace Ductwork?
Our furnace ducts are available in an assortment of sizes and flexible duct types and each are designed to provide excellent air movement characteristics while offering a specialized type of air movement. We offer ducts that can handle temperatures up to 1650F, flex ducts that are insulated or furnace ducting that is designed for temporary use. One great thing about our furnace ducts is that they are extremely flexible which allows them access to hard-to-reach places. Unlike rigid ducting products that are only offered in straight runs, our flexible ducts are easy to bend and maneuver and are great for projects that involve lots of bends and turns. This flexibility eliminates the need for additional accessories such as duct elbows, which saves you money and time. A single coil of our flexible ducts can be used to replace several runs of rigid duct and elbows and the installation process is far easier, especially in tight spaces. After the cost consideration of accessories and extra time required for installation of rigid ducts, the cost of flexible furnace hoses is far more affordable!
Metal Furnace Ducts
Since furnaces generate heated air, good temperature resistance is also important when choosing a furnace duct. Our stainless steel ducting products offer temperature ranges up to 800F and 1650 degrees Fahrenheit, ensuring excellent performance. We offer two types of stainless ducts, with one that is titanium stabilized stainless steel. Thermal stabilization occurs by heating the chemically stabilized stainless steel to a temperature where titanium carbides form preferentially, and chromium carbides do not form. This heat treatment is conducted at approximately 1,625 °F for chemically stabilized stainless steels. Lightweight and hand bendable, our stainless furnace ducts allow for elbows and turns to be formed easily during installation. In addition, stainlessness furnace hoses resist metal fatigue, weathering, & moisture.
Aluminum furnace ducts handle temperature up to 280 and 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Flexible furnace ducts are in stock for shipment within 24 hours in 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 ID’s. The wide variety of sizes allows for their use with almost any type of duct installation. Aluminum furnace ductwork has a self-supporting construction and this allows for the hose bends to stay in place when flexed. Aluminum ducts are designed for extreme temperature applications and will resist metal fatigue, weathering, and most corrosive fumes and chemicals.
After oxygen and silicon, aluminum is the most common element in the Earth’s crust. After iron, aluminum is now the second most widely used metal in the world. The properties of aluminum include low density and therefore low weight, high strength, superior malleability, easy machining, excellent corrosion resistance and good thermal and electrical conductivity. Aluminum flexible ducts are lighter weight than their steel counterparts while offering excellent durability to weathering. Aluminum compounds also occur naturally in our food.

What Is a Furnace?
A furnace is an HVAC appliance that generates hot air and is intended for heating living spaces. The furnace may be installed in the garage, in the attic or even outdoors. A furnace works through burning a fuel source to generate the heat needed. Most commonly this is natural gas, since it is the least expensive source of fuel for heaters. Inside the space, there are thermostats with sensors that trigger the furnace to start operation when and if the temperature drops below a specific value. When the furnace generates its heat a blower fan directs the heated air from the exchanger to the ductwork that has been designed to carry the hot air to the specified location. A furnace thermostat tells the furnace when to turn on and off. The thermostat’s sensors detect when the temperature is at its threshold point and then it tells the furnace to turn on or off.
Being cold is not fun. Being cold for long periods of time is even worse. Throughout the world, adverse temperatures affect a large majority of our population. Thankfully, furnaces are the readily accessible, premier way of heating your home and office. It’s just one more piece of modern technology that many of us take for granted in the 21st century. A furnace is a stationary household heating system that heats and distributes air through household heating furnace ducts. These are used heavily during the winter months when the weather begins to cool down and an additional heat source is required in order to maintain a warm environment. These systems generally use oil or natural gas to produce heat and a blower then distributes the heat throughout the home using ducting channels. There are many different sizes and types of furnaces; however one thing they all have in common is the need for furnace ducts to circulate the heated air. A furnace is ineffective without efficient furnace duct work to distribute heated air throughout the living space.

Commonly Asked Questions about Furnace Ducting Set #1
How do you size ductwork for a furnace?
Most commonly used furnace duct sizes used in the US are 4, 6 and 8-inch diameter ducts. If you are replacing ducts, then you are limited by the current size in use. Using a smaller diameter duct will slow down the airflow in your system, while using a larger size will not increase the speed of the airflow either. If you are installing a new system, you should consider the output of the furnace, the size of the spaces through which you will be installing the ducting, and the furnace manufacturer’s recommended duct size and your budget. Keep in mind the larger the hose size, the more expensive the ducting will be!
What is ductwork for a furnace?
Ductwork that is connected to a furnace are the hoses that deliver the hot air from the furnace to the delivery points in your home. The ductwork is a web of hot air delivery tunnels that lead heated air from the furnace.
Is it worth it to replace ductwork?
If your ductwork is older than 15 years, it is recommended that you have your system checked for wear or damage. Furnaces and ductwork that are installed will generally have a 15-20 year lifespan.
Should furnace ducts be insulated?
Yes, that is a luxury that will increase efficiency and ensure that heated air will have the least amount of heat loss when delivered to its end point. Insulated furnace ductwork is designed to maintain the heat generated by a furnace as the hot air is driven by fans through them.

Commonly Asked Questions about Furnace Ducting Set #2
How long does insulated ductwork last?
Quality insulated ducts should last 15-20 years when installed properly and not moved. If installed in crawl spaces or attics where the insulated ducts do not see any contact with the elements or people, there is no reason for them to break down. Air duct furnace accessories will only see heated, leaned air passing through them should easily have a service life of fifteen to twenty years.
Can you use a flexible duct for furnace exhaust?
Yes, as long the flexible duct is rated for the maximum temperatures that the furnace produces and pushes through to its ducts. Assuming these temperatures are about 170 F, then the flexible duct being used needs to be able to handle this maximum temperature. The term flexible duct sometimes is incorrectly applied to cheap vinyl ducting. Flexible ducting is a broad category of products with varying sophistication levels and within this broad list there are options that can work well as air duct furnace products.
How thick should insulation be for HVAC ducts?
Insulation’s thickness is less important than the R-Value that the insulation material offers. Recommended R-Value for residential installations is either six or eight. In addition, an R-Value of 4 is also available for furnace air duct products and is a bit less expensive.
Does a new furnace need new ductwork?
Most furnaces have a life cycle of 15 to 20 years and as technology advances so does the quality and the expectations of the accessories (e.g., furnace ducting) with which furnaces should be installed. Flexible ducting installed with furnaces is also subject to wear and tear and should be examined by a professional prior to the installation of your new furnace.
How much does insulated ducting cost?
Modern insulated ducting is very cost effective and is far cheaper than the energy loss that is caused by using uninsulated ducting. The cost of wasted energy to heat a home is far more expensive than the one-time marginal increase in the cost of a hose from being non-insulated to an insulated version.
Insulated ducting is far less expensive than you would assume. A 4-inch HVAC Insulated-Flex duct is about $2.46 per foot, while a 6-inch duct is currently $3.07 per foot.
