Qualities of a Great Heating Duct

Ducting comes in a wide variety of materials and sizes, guaranteeing an ideal hose for each and every application. While it is nice to have so many options, the choices can be overwhelming to a duct heating novice. It is important to choose the right heating duct for your system, otherwise you may end up with poor air quality, circulation, or worse – a damaged heater hose. Next time you are shopping for a heating air duct, make sure the product you choose hits these important points:

  1. Heat-Resistant Hose – This may seem like a no-brainer, but it is important to choose a heating duct that can handle the temperatures present in your application. There are several different kinds of heat-resistant Hose that perform under different maximum temperatures. Neoprene-coated fiberglass is a cost-effective heating duct that can handle temperatures up to 300°F, which is great for residential ducting systems. For commercial and industrial applications that experience higher temperatures, fiberglass heating hoses can be coated with silicone or aluminum.
  2. Durability – Flexible heat ducting is usually fairly sensitive, no matter what material it is made of. The risk of tears and punctures in the material is high for both transporting the heat duct and installing it. Many heating ducts come equipped with wear strips to prevent such damage and ensure safe handling of the tubing.
  3. Insulation – Regardless of whether you are installing a cooling or heating duct, insulation is an important quality to have. An insulated heating duct has an extra layer to it that protects the airflow and temperature from escaping while maintaining an efficient level of flexibility. This is important for any heat ducting system in order to ensure that air quality and temperature levels are up to par.

Welding Fumes

Welding is a high-skill process that includes using extreme heat (which can come in various forms) to fuse two objects together. Unsurprisingly, it can be very dangerous if the proper precautions are not taken. One of the main dangers involved is the level of noxious fumes and gasses which can be released while welding. These toxic fumes have to be properly ventilated, and that is where ducting comes in. Some low-level welding process may only require opening doors, windows and vents, or using general extractor fans, but when you are working in a high-danger environment, the proper welding duct hose should be used. This is the most efficient precaution and can remove fumes in high volume.

It is important to use the correct ducting equipment, especially when you are working with toxic materials and high temperatures. For the removal of welding fumes, which can be very hot, it is necessary to use a duct hose that can handle extreme heat. The most heat-resistant ducting materials are aluminum and stainless steel, but other materials such as silicone, neoprene, acrylic and even PVC can offer higher than average heat resistance.

Another important factor in choosing a ducting hose for welding is to know what kind of materials you will be dealing with. This is because different materials will give off different fumes, and different ducting materials carry different levels of chemical resistance. You might be dealing with simple smoke extraction, or it might be something more harmful or corrosive. It is vital to ensure that the hose can handle the process. For instance, PVC has good chemical resistance, but might not be suited for dealing with a certain chemical or noxious fume type. In that case, some more resistant materials such as stainless steel might be necessary.

Ducting Insights – What Is Meant by Ambient Air?

Ambient air refers to the natural state of gasses in the atmosphere—the temperature and composition of ordinary air that plants and animals breathe. It is clean and safe to breathe. The temperature of ambient air is more or less the comfortable temperature range for the human body—neither too hot nor too cold. It is what we refer to as room temperature.

Unlike hoses designed for extreme heat or extreme cold, ambient air hoses are used at relatively mild temperatures. Since they do not need to withstand extreme conditions, ambient air hoses can be made with a variety of hose wall materials at a more affordable price point. In addition to rubber and plastic hoses, many of our ambient air hoses are made from polyester fabric dipped in PVC vinyl. These hoses generally have a working temperature of up to 160 Fahrenheit.

Since the temperature of ambient air is comfortable for humans to live in, ambient air hoses are often used in air ventilation systems. They circulate air through enclosed spaces like buildings, supplying occupants with fresh, breathable air while removing used, stale air. Ambient air ducting tend to have larger ID (internal diameter) sizes than other ducts, allowing air to circulate more efficiently. They also often have cuff ends to minimize air leakage and ensure proper circulation. Flexible ducts are ideal for transporting ambient air, as they can be routed along irregular pathways without inhibiting airflow. By circulating air at room temperature, ambient air hoses help to regulate indoor temperatures and maintain a comfortable environment for the building’s occupants.

“Air Ventilator Insulated”

  • Ideal for use for permanent and mobile air condition units
  • Compressible and easy to transport

The “Air Ventilator Insulated” ventilation ducts are made from two single-ply PVC fabric layers, plus one layer of PET film with a cotton barrier meant for insulation. The insulated barrier in this flexible ventilation ducting hose makes it ideal of air movement applications. It is compressible and can be easily moved around, thus making it good for either permanent or temporary air conditioning uses. Primarily meant for residential or commercial level of air ducting and ventilation, it has a shiny metallic silver appearance that allows it to bring a sleek and professional look to the job.

The PVC fabric layers that make these vent hoses are very crucial to what makes them great ducting products. The PVC material provides these ventilation ducts with a superior level of resistance against moisture, ozone, and UV rays. As a result, they can be used in both indoor and outdoor applications. PVC material itself is resistant to various types of oils and alcohols, but it is best to not put this air hose in contact with more caustic chemical materials.

These insulated ducting and ventilation hoses should be used in residential and commercial applications. Use this ventilation ducts for AC ventilation, cold air supply, utility blowers, HVAC purposes, general-purpose residential ducting, and humidity control applications.

Best Sellers – Air Ventilator Hoses

Air ventilation hoses are designed with several different factors in mind. As such, these ducting hoses are very versatile products and have a huge number of potential uses. To boil it down to basics, the hose products are made to transfer air and facilitate circulation. But within that very broad definition, there is a huge number of applications that the hoses can be used for.

The Air Ventilator hose range is so versatile and effective because of the way the products are made. They are constructed from PVC rubber and vary in size from a 4-inch diameter to 24-inches, making them useful in every setting, from small-scale to industrial. The ducting is reinforced with a spring steel wiring that makes it extremely strong, even when flexed. It is also resistant to heat, standing up to a range of temperatures from -20 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit, while the Air Ventilator hoses can also compress to a fraction of their usual size.  These hoses have a 10 to 1 compression ratio, meaning a 25 footer can compress to a 2.5ft size.

The range of applications for the Air Ventilator hoses are far-reaching. If there’s a need for air ventilation then this duct hose can fill it. That includes air conditioning, mobile and fixed chillers and dehumidification units. With the temperature resistance capabilities and the variety of sizes available, the hoses can be used in any setting, from an in-home HVAC system to large industrial machinery which needs ventilation tubing. While air flow – specifically in cold and heating systems – might be the primary use for the air ventilator hoses, they also have plenty of more obscure capabilities, such as a smoke ejector.

Portable AC Hose

When a project requires an AC hose to be frequently moved between locations, it presents a unique set of demands that requires a portable hose. Portable AC hose products need to be durable, flexible, and compressible. They also need to be able to withstand the rigors of the outdoors. For work that requires high levels of movement, it is also important to have a retractable hose for convenient transportation. The benefits of having a proper portable AC hose are no more evident than when it is used in—of course—a portable air conditioning unit.
