The “Wind Handler WS Large Diameter” flexible ducting is a single-ply neoprene coated polyester fabric hose reinforced with a spring steel wire helix & external wearstrip. The hose wall is a polyester fabric that has been coated in neoprene and this hose exhibits strong affiliation with its rubber makeup. Neoprene rubber is an industrial rubber developed during WWII for use in military and automotive applications. It is highly weather, ozone, moisture and chemical resistant which makes any ensuing product made from neoprene be ideal for outdoor use. This large diameter hose is designed for use in outdoor or indoor applications. Due to its rubber wall, the duct hose has excellent flexibility and flex-rebound characteristics. It can be compressed and flexed constantly during use without concern for ripping and tearing. This hose has an unmatched compressibility with a compression ratio of 12 to one. This means a 25-foot length of the hose can be compressed down to almost a 2-foot section. We know of no other flexible hose with this type of compression.
The “Wind Handler WS Large Diameter” ducting is available in the following large diameter hose sizes: Sizes I.D. (inches): 20, 24, 28, 30, 36, 40, 42, 48, & 52 Inch inside diameter. Custom sizes up to 52″ ID are available upon request. This flexible duct is made to order and available in lengths up to 50-feet (based on ID size) in length. The hose is equipped with plain cuffs, however custom end cuffs are available and any hose end can be customized with a variety of end finishes. The flex hose is sold in a standard yellow with a black wearstrip. Other likes such as blue, white and military hues are also offered.
These series of flexible ducts are very lightweight and ultimately designed for use that requires movement. A 24-inch diameter hose weighs about 1.6-lbs per foot, making for a large diameter hose that weighs about 40-lbs in a 25-foot length. The I.D. size is deal for moving large volumes of air and the weight is very manageable for portable HVAC, ventilation, or migratory exhaust systems. Why use a large diameter duct for air ventilation?
A duct’s diameter is responsible for the duct’s CFM (cubic feet per minute) output. Changing the internal diameter (ID) of your HVAC air ducts will change the pressure throughout the system and will change the overall air volume that is being transferred from the source to the end. A large diameter portable air conditioner hose will simply offer more room for the movement of a large volume of air.
